The Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link starts its official operation since August 2010. To avoid Bangkok’s
congestion, the 28.6 km journey from Bangkok to the international airport is elevated by the services of
30 minutes or less.
The services are comprised of 2 lines, non-stop Express services and City Train services. Both lines
operate from 06.00 am. – midnight.
Non-stop Express services start at Suvarnabhumi Airport and terminate at Makkasan Station. The journey
takes only 15 minutes and runs every 30 minutes. City Train or Commuter services run between Suvarnabhumi
Airport, stop at Lat Krabang, Ban Thup Chang, Hua Mak, Makkasan, Ratchaprarop and Phaya Thai. The journey
takes 27 minutes and runs every 15 minutes.
Facilitating the tourists and commuters to travel to other parts of Bangkok, both lines have interchange
station at Makkasan Station for MRT (Underground train) at Phetchaburi Station. City Train line is linked
at Phaya Thai station for BTS (Skytrain) Phaya Thai Station.

SA Express
This line provides transportation service between Bangkok City Air Terminal (BCAT) from
Makkasan to Suvarnabhumi Airport within 15 minutes, which stops only at Makkasan Station (original terminal)
and Suvarnabhumi Station (end terminal).
There are total of 4 trains providing services in SA Express. Each train has 3 passenger cars,
which have 170 passenger seats, and 1 baggage car that makes up altogether 4 cars.
It provides service from 06.00 am. - 12.00 am.
Makkasan Station - BCAT is the originating point of the SA Express Line as well as a station for the SA City Line,
which has many facilities such as check-in counter service that passengers can check-in
and load their baggage to the baggage car which provides convenience
of transferring baggage to various airlines.
Suvarnabhumi Station - This is an underground station, part of which is under Suvarnabhumi Airport Terminal
and passengers can access the airport from the station and hotel connection point.
It has various facilities such as elevator, escalator, ramp, etc
Furthermore, the station also has other services such as Flight Information, Car Park with capacity of 300 cars
and 100 motorcycles, Bus Parking Area, Taxi Stand, and passengers can also interchange
to BTS (Petchaburi Station).
SA City Line
This line provides service between Phyathai Station to the end terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport
within 30 minutes, which stops at 6 stations along the way such as Rajprarop Station, Makkasan Station,
Ramkhamhaeng Station, Hua Mark Station, Thab Chang Station, and Lad Krabang Station.
It covers a distance of 28 kilometers.
SA City Line has 5 trains, each train has 3 passenger cars with the capacity of 745 passengers per train.
It provides service from 06.00 am. - 12.00 am.
Phyathai Station - This is the originating terminal of the SA City Line, which is located east of
Phyathai Road linking Phyathai BTS Station.
Rajprarop Station - This station is located on Rajprarop Road intersecting Nikommakkasan Road
closed to Pratunam, of which nearby area will be developed into a new major business
and trade center in the future.
Bangkok City Air Terminal (Makkasan Station) - BCAT is the originating point of the SA Express Line as well as
a station for the SA City Line, which has many facilities such as check-in counter service that passengers can

Ramkhamhaeng Station - This station is located adjacent to Ramkhamhaeng Road at Klong Ton Intersection
closed to Ramkhamhaeng University, Assumption University, Rajamangala National Stadium,
and shopping center within 2.5-km radius.
Thab Chang Station - This Station is located north of Ban Thab Chang Train Station close to Eastern Outer Ring Road
and Bangkok-Chonburi Motor Way.
Suvarnabhumi Station - This is an underground station, part of which is under Suvarnabhumi Airport Terminal
and passengers can access the airport from the station and hotel connection point. It has various facilities such as elevator,

Hua Mark Station - This station is located north of Srinakarin Road and close to Pattanakarn Intersection
and Bangkok-Chonburi Motor Way, which Kasem Bundit University is within 2-km radius.
Lad Krabang Station - This station is located adjacent to King MongKut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
and north of Lad Krabang Train Station. Due to the State Railway of Thailand plans to expand railway route to provinces,
therefore, this station will become a major interchange station for passenger transportation in the future.

Facilities
Automatic Token Dispenser is designed to provide prepaid pass service and single trip
token.
Passengers can select destination and number of required token. The machine will then automatically
calculate the fair and give out change as well as print out the receipt. City Line’s fair start from 15 baht up to 45 baht,
while Express’s fair is a flat rate of 150 baht.
Facilities for the disables consists of disables parking, especially Braille system and
voice announcement indicating the floor for the blinds. There is also as area allocated especially
for the disables within the passenger car. Ticket distribution channel and access gate were also designed
with the consideration of the disables, of which the height and width suitable for wheelchair access
as well as various signs for the disables, which are posted at a regular interval.
Toilets, there are also toilets for the disables on the Express Line and at the Makkasan Station,
especially near shops and restaurants in the station area.

Ticket Distribution
Every Airport Rail Link station has been installed with at least 2 automatic token dispensers.
Number of automatic token dispenser in each station depends on station’s size.
Automatic token dispenser at Airport Rail Link station is designed to calculate fair
of a single passenger up to 5 passengers. The computer program will automatically calculate the fair,
which passengers can use 1 baht, 5 baht, and 10 baht coins, or notes to purchase the token.
This machine has an automatic changing and receipt system. Token can be easily purchase
by merely selecting the destination station. The machine will calculate the fair according to the distance.
City Line’s fair start from 15 baht up to 45 baht, while Express’s fair is a flat rate of 150 baht.
After the passenger has paid specified amount, the machine will dispense token as a gate pass
for entering the platform, and it will print out a receipt for the amount and give out the change,
which passengers have an option whether to print out the receipt.
Airport Rail Link has a prepaid pass, like other trains, when passengers touch the pass at the reader,
it will indicate the balance and details of which station the passenger has been travelled through,
as well as number of time the prepay has been made. The minimal prepaid value is 50 baht,
which passengers can prepay up to 1,000 baht. The machine does not have the change system
for the prepaying the prepaid pass. The system that coordinates with the automatic
token dispenser is platform gate, which reads the information in the token. If the information is valid,
the gate will open to allow passenger to enter the platform.
The gate has a capacity of 45 passengers per minute. Number of gate depends on number
of passengers and station’s size.
